This is great, David. I very much enjoyed listening to this first podcast. I gain something from both reading your posts and listening. A few days after reading this latest post I headed over to Carkeek. I was a bit late to see many live salmon but it was thrilling just the same to bear witness to this event, I watched mallards eat salmon eggs and dead salmon. Saw a dipper doing it's little dippity-dippity-dip routine. And, perhaps one of the highlights of the day, a young girl about ten years old with a tiny spiral notebook busily recording numbers of dead salmon and live fish. There was such a celebratory, upbeat feeling, so many of us standing near Piper's Creek.
It's fun to hear you read your newsletter! I loved your characterization of the nominated cabinet as a "junk drawer." I'm stealing that phrase. And yay for the chum returning to Piper's Creek in northwest Seattle. That's a wonderful event in a difficult time. Thanks for taking us with you and sharing your knowledge and connection.
I like this idea! If the podcast email is just a link to the podcast on Substack and an announcement of where else it's available, might that happen on the newsletter email? I'll want to listen, but won't want to wait for for the audio version. I enjoy the newsletter.
Mallory, Good point. Still trying to figure out how all of this works. I am not sure if I can embed the podcast with the newsletter but will see if it's possible. Thanks. David

Fun stuff!
I like the podcast idea! I subscribe to various podcasts and listen on my walks. This one will fit in perfectly for me. I found the show on Apple Podcasts at: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/street-smart-naturalist/id1783140890

Wish I could claim junk drawer as my own but I picked it up from a friend. Yes, amazing to see the salmon and beaver. So hopeful!
Nice to hear your voice, David. Great idea!

Will these podcasts be available through your standard podcast apps as well, or is Substack the best place to listen? Great idea!!
Tim, thanks. I think it's now on Apple and Spotify, or at least I tried to sync to them? Being new at this I am not clear if I did it right.
