Also, while you're here, if you haven't looked at the peat layer along the east end of North Beach, it's worth a look. Don't know where else that crops up in this region. :)

I am looking forward to your new book. A suggestion, you and the co-author doing a Seattle Townhall presentation, and a book buying and signing opportunity. I would be line. Second suggestion, at such a talk, rather than a summary of the book, things that led to writing the book, snags along the way, and some/many of the things you had to leave out of the book. Rob

Hi David,

I saw that you will be in Port Townsend on the 18th to speak for Quimper Geological Society.

Since you're interested in fossils, I'd like to hand off a fossil bone we found on North Beach last week. It is a leg bone of a large mammal and was emerging from the clay layer, ~150K years old. I sent a query to Burke, but haven't heard back yet. Looking forward to your presentation! Kathy Darrow
