Each year, I take a “Kinship Walk” on Thanksgiving down by the waterfront. It's a quiet wander where I try to imagine what this place was like long before it became Seattle. Your books have helped ground that imagining in real history, and I’m grateful for that. Happy Thanksgiving, David. Wishing you peace and rest today.

I am down to five jars of Adam's Old Fashioned. I stock up when I find it on sale. It's one of the few examples of disaster planning I have actually followed through on.

Peanut butter is an excellent source of protein and can store for a long time. If power goes out, it won't go rancid like many other proteins do.

Do you ever buy it at Costco? They have big vats of it there.

Happy Thanksgiving, David. Congrats especially on the new book coming out next fall. And next time you're in Maine, let me know. We're about two hours up the coast from Kennebunk. We'll go for a walk. You should see the stone at Pemaquid Point...

Jason, I wanted to connect with you but, as you might imagine at a wedding, it was a bit nutty. Next time! David

Oh, I get it. I had a similar experience in Montana this summer. Thought maybe I'd branch out to see some people but of course it's all about family.

Jack's Peak! My writing getaway for several years was in a carriage house on Jack's Peak, where I paid $100 a month for a five-acre spread. They mostly wanted me up there to keep an eye out for fires. Beautiful, but a scary place to be in a wind storm, with all those Monterey Pines. Jealous of your time with Robert MacFarlane. Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow, lucky you. I do like that open forest down there. Be well.

Since I've read both authors you recommend, I'll just add that I'm grateful for your trip over to Winthrop to talk and later walk with Dana Visali. Happy Thanksgiving, indeed.
